The Gocargo semi trailer system
Further to the general important demands mentioned above, the system for
the semi trailer has the following specific points to be considered:
-
low weight for the complete system in relation to the maximum payload
-
little building height for the system in relation to the useable loading
height
-
compact driving units because of the useful loading length
-
weather, water and pickle resistant system, materials and controls
The endless moving floor as used with the stationary systems has no advantage
for the systems built into the semi trailers. Semi trailers are loaded
and unloaded by turns.
The Gocargo loading- unloading system for semi trailer use is assembled
with the following parts:
Winch
The winch developed by KWB itself is mounted to the front (outer) side
of the bulkhead. This winch is built as compact and with as low maintenance
as possible. This robust winch unit is driven hydraulically or electrically;
a combination of both is also possible. The winch is built completely within
the legal limited bulkhead radius of 2040 mm. The winch pulls the conveyor
belt, covering the standard floor by means of a steel cable. When the belt
gets pulled forward the semi trailer can be loaded from the rear. |

Conveyor belt
The conveyor belt developed especially for this purpose which is used
by KWB is only 4 mm thick. The conveyor belt rests on the standard floor
of the semi trailer, therefore losing only four mm of useable loading height
compared to a standard trailer. The maximum concentrated force is
very high because the standard floor is used to support the belt. The Gocargo
system mounted into the semi trailer can be used by a forklift as a normal
trailer floor. |
292
On the rear side of the trailer a self-developed drive unit is mounted,
called the 292. The conveyor belt is guided over the guiding roll in the
back of the trailer and then wounded up on to the winding roll. The drive
unit is integrated into this roll. The drive unit can be powered hydraulically,
electrically or a combination of both. The drive is virtually maintenance
free by using a minimum of moving parts and connection to a central grasing
system. |

Controls
Of course the controls for the Gocargo systems are different for the
hydraulic and electric version. Both version are completely developed and
built by KWB itself to meet the customer's specification. There is always
supply in knowledge and spare parts to repair any malfunction because KWB
develops and builds the controls self. The basis is formed by a control
that only has functions for loading and unloading. Expansions to this control
can be with photo cells for automated loading and unloading, sensors to
automatically detect cargo, speed measuring and control, etc. Advanced
options are for example storing of failure reports, storing an electronic
freight bill or the need to log in with username and password before the
system functions. |
Positioning
Gocargo steel wheels are used to position the trailer as accurate as
possible in front of the stationary dock. These wheels are mounted rigid
to the trailer chassis. A hot dip galvanized frame is mounted rigid to
the floor in front of the stationary Gocargo. While driving towards the
dock the steel wheels are guided to the right height, width and distance
by the frame. During positioning the trailer gets raised approximately
1,5 cm from its air suspension to prevent any kind of reaction of the suspension.
By this methods of positioning the trailers are positioned very precise,
up to a few millimetres. |
